Monitoring and support

For a small monthly fee, we can install software to monitor the critical areas of your system and alert you to a glitch before it becomes an issue. We have three packages available, each offering a different level of monitoring and service

The ‘Sign up’ link below each option will take you to our payment provider ‘GoCardless’ where you are able to set up a monthly direct debit to cover the cost of the monitoring for a single machine. If you wish to cover more than one machine or wish to pay annually, please contact us and we’ll set up a custom plan for you

Option 1 Essentials

An agent is installed to your machine and monitors the areas highlighted. If a problem is found it will generate an alert on your screen with an invitation to contact the PC Clinic for assistance. We can either then book your machine into the workshop for attention or offer a remote session to fix. Normal remote and workshop charges apply. Ideal if you want basic checks of your machine carried out.

Option 2 Active Monitor

In addition to Option 1, this option includes the monitoring of Windows updates and other software installed to your machine. Software updates often add features to your software or more importantly fix security issues, so it’s important to ensure updates are working as they should. Our technician will also monitor your system for faults on a daily basis. Normal remote and workshop charges apply

Option 3 Full 

In addition to the checks made in the first two options, remote sessions to attempt a fix or repair are also included, subject to a fair usage policy. We offer a discount of 10% on workshop charges.

Option 4 Full security pack

In addition to the checks made in the first three options, a basic annual tune-up is included. Remote sessions to attempt a fix or repair are also included, subject to a fair usage policy. We can now include workshop labour (up to 2 sessions per year), if your machine is not repairable via a remote session. We also include 1 year subscription to an internet security package – currently Bullguard Internet Security.

Bullguard Internet Security software is currently included with option 4 only and we reserve the right to swap to an alternative package at any stage

Explanations

Monitoring

A monitoring agent is downloaded via either an email or from our website and installed to your PC or laptop. The agent analyses the critical areas of your Windows installation and some hardware such as the hard drive which stores all of your data. If it finds anything that may cause a problem it will create an alert, either a pop-up on your screen and/or a daily alert directly through a console at our workshop. System requires an internet connection to communicate with our system

Remote service

A remote service is where we are able to take control of your machine via the internet in order to carry out a diagnosis or repair. You would first have to give permission for this by sending us a code from a piece of software downloaded to your machine. It’s an easy process and fully secure and confidential. Terms

Simple: commitment is for 1 month, except for the full security package which is 12 months – either party can cancel any time after that but we’re sure you would want the security of knowing that your machine is being checked for faults

There is no guarantee that all faults will be detected and we can offer no warranty against data or other loss. It is expected that you retain a copy of your own data
